First and foremost all you pigeons, you all must bow down and worship the greatness that is
canadianevil for they have brought you an icon that I was going to make, but did it all so much better.

Please cookies/money/pretty boys having sex/small countries/slaves/all of the above to me and I'll make sure they'll get sent to the right person.
Chapter Twelve, page 111
I think I've figured out why these have been taking me so damn long to do (beyond the crap of my life) it's that since it's in first person, it's difficult to distinguish what is legitimate "first person chatter" and what's "WTF is that there for!?" Third person POV is easier to sift through because you don't have to worry about the narrator imparting character information about themselves. Unless it's one of those meta-narrators in a satire book or something. But I digress. \~/
We left off with Richard (previously known as an interesting character who apparently got shredded like butter through meat grinder) crying like a baby because he doesn't know how to deal with the sudden boost of power he got when Anita and JC fucked Auggie so that he couldn't stand and left him wanting more. So, we have already admitted, in the previous chapter, that the Arduer is addictive and dangerous. We now have a Master Vampire who is may have been turned into a for lack of a better term horny thrall utterly in love with Anita and JC and willing to do whatever they want. Anita has absolutely NO control over said arduer. And yet they want to let her around people. People who are less in control than Auggie and there for may end up even worse off than he is by becoming drooling idiots. Um... I mean... well.. in the non-sexual sense. \~/\~/\~/
This is not a bad thing.
No the bad thing is that Richard yelled at them for doing it and now they have to make him feel better. \~/
What's a better fixer upper for a guy than a good group cuddle!
Aww...
They're all cuddly like cuddly kittens in a cuddly kitten thing.

YET! Some observations, that may have been refuted in the earlier books, first why is JC warm? Innie dead like a dead guy. I don't think he'd be like a silken chair. And what sort of description is warm silken chair for skin anyway? \~/ Then (and this TOTALLY might be me) but why doesn't Richard have any hair on his chest? He doesn't seem to me to be the type of guy that wouldn't be hairless or bother to shave the hair on his chest. He's a manly man, as Anita mentioned when he was introduced. And he's a wolf. Okay, that one might be stereotyping. But really, why aren't these weres furry even somewhat in human form? Why are they all pretty boys? Where are the ugly weres?! \~/ \~/
So, they cuddle.
Anita is amazed that Richard is letting JC touch him because Richard doesn't like JC. And then Richard *Gasps* starts to play with JC's hair! This is a big thing because Richard has never been so freely touching with JC before. (They also describe the texture of JC's hair for FOUR PARAGRAPHS) Still despite the over description of the hair, it's an nice and interesting bit of I guess down time and character development of sorts for Richard and between the three of them. I actually rather like the scene (beyond the silk skin) it's rather nicely written. JC doesn't quite know how to handle it and neither does Anita. We're not really sure what's going on in Richard's head, but we know that something is. Some thing has changed.
The cuddle fest is interrupted by a knocking on the door. The Master of Cape Cod and his oldest son are back (That would be Samuel and Sampson those of the Siren family) and they want to talk. No, the bodyguard doesn't know why. They uncuddle, Anita and JC putting on robes (JC's is furry while Anita's is just black and silky) and Richard his shirt on.
There's a moment when the three of them look in the mirror together, Richard in the middle and JC and Anita on either side.
Does anyone know if Blake vampires can reflect? I don't remember. Anyway, beyond that, this is a nice little contrast. A nice image and we kind of get how Richard is feeling here. He doesn't think he belongs with the two of them, but has found himself sort of "Stuck" with them because of the three power thingy or something. JC says that if he could free Richard, he would.
It's a very tender, quiet, scene. No real sexual tension or anything like that and it's the best working scene - the best working chapter I've read her so far.
Of course it ends up getting flawed horribly when Richard says that it's all his fault for not helping as he should have. He's JC's animal to call (Still not sure what that means) and he hasn't been doing his duty. If he had been, he thinks there wouldn't have been such a problem.
The thing is, Richard has every right to be angry - to hate them - because he's been put into enforced slavery. He's an "Animal to Call" which is like he doesn't have any say on what he wants to do. He's just a dog that has to do what his master says. Of course that's something to be angry about. To fight against. He shouldn't have to submit to it willingly magic or not.
He's a slave.
Nathaniel is Anita's slave.
Animal to call is just another name.\~/ \~/ \~/ \~/
However, Richard, of course, doesn't see it this way. Instead it's a problem of his for not doing his duty, which he resolves to fix. "No more lying to myself. I am your animal to call, and I hate it, and sometimes I hate you, and sometimes I hate Anita, and most of the time I hate myself. No more lies, and no more crippling us."
He hates himself for being forced to work for someone against his will. This here is a healthy individual. No wonder he has to go to therapy. \~/\~/
Of course, Anita is WTF about this. When she asks him about the sudden change he says "No, I guess it doesn't." He looked at Jean-Claude, and I felt that first warm trickle of his energy, "Are you playing puppet with me again?" JC says no. And Richard is good, let's go talk to the Master. \~/\~/
Anita says that this new attitude didn't feel real. And then she gives a long descriptive paragraph on how exactly it doesn't feel real. But the long and short of it is, they -JC and Anita - aren't sure what's up in Richard's head.
Perhaps he's planning to kill them all when their guard is down. =D
Over all though, I have to say I like this chapter the best so far. No sex. No sexual tension. No am I going to have to sleep with him or her. Just three of them... sitting and being.

Aww...
We ended up on the floor with Richard cradled in my lap, while I sat against Jean-Claude's bare upper body as if he were a warm, silken chair. Richard's shirt was gone, so the warm muscled smoothness of his chest and shoulders lay across the pooled towel in my lap. My upper body was as bare as his; the towel just couldn't hold on during that much cuddling. Richard lay on his back, eyes peaceful, his hair like a brown and gold halo around his face.
They're all cuddly like cuddly kittens in a cuddly kitten thing.

We had to walk in front of the mirror to get to the door, and Richard stopped us with a hand on either of our shoulders. He turned toward our reflections so that he stood between us. We were all black cloth and white skin, sharp contrasts. Then there he stood, in his bright red shirt, blue jeans, his hair all brown and gold. His tan, darker in contrast with how pale we were. "Which of these things does not belong?" he asked in a low voice. There was t ath shadow in his eyes again.
